My thoughts:
I was really excited to come here, and as my friend could attest, who claimed that I scurried ahead of her, as if I was "on a mission." Anyway, the place is very hard to find. Very little/inconspicuous signage. We actually went to the restaurant next door, La Cubana (another restaurant on my bucket list), whose staff was kind enough to provide directions to their competitor.

Anyway, we arrived shortly after their opening time of 6pm and easily scored a seat. I'd read reviews beforehand and decided on their signature Loosey ($5) sandwich, which was reminiscent of a Big Mac with some Korean flavours mixed in. The bread was toasted and buttered, and the sauces and toppings just melded together. And at that price point, this was definitely a winner! Unfortunately, that's where the good stuff ends...

Next, we had the Kimchee and Pork Belly Fried Rice ($10). The rice itself needed more flavour and the dish was warm, not hot, and was overpowered by LOTS of pickled things (kimchee among other things.) Overall, the dish was just way too sour.

We also ordered one of their daily specials - BBQ pork neck platter with a bean sprout slaw ($25). At that price point, we expected something pretty amazing, but boy were we disappointed. Not only did the slaw have NOTHING going for it flavour-wise, the pork was extremely dry and overly charred. This was a huge miss. Though you get a lot of meat, it was still very expensive for such a poorly done dish.

In sum, I question their pricing methodology. Some items were very reasonably priced (like the Loosey), while others were very pricey (like the other two things we ordered). And while I thought this was a flop, I'd come back for the only thing that was at least half-decent today, their sammies. Worth the trek only because they were good and so cheap. One more drawback: they're only open from 6pm-2am every day, save for Sundays, which they're closed all days - only an issue for people like me who have earlier schedules than most people.
